Mr. Jon will offer training in Taijiquan as an after-school activity beginning in Term 3. Taijiquan is a Chinese martial art that originated in Chen village in China. The art has been passed down from master to disciple for 20 generations. Mr. Jon learned this particular style of taiji from master Zhang Xuexin of San Francisco, California. Contained within its fluid movements are a variety of locking, breaking, throwing, and striking techniques.
In term 3, students will learn a basic set of silk-reeling exercises, chan si gong, three important energy cultivation excercises, qi gong, and the first part of the 24-movement short form. Those wishing to continue in Term 4 will learn the rest of the short form and the complete chan si gong set.
Table tennis, or ping pong, is one of ISB afternoon activities. This is a game or sport in which two or four players hit a lightweight, hollow ball back and forth with rackets, also known as bats or paddle.
Our sessions usually consist of warm-ups, drills (forehand, backhand, spin, etc), a competition among the participants, and a cooling-down period.
Come join this activity to develop your skills in ping pong and have a whole lot of fun with us!
