Welcome to Early Learning Center 2 & 3! The children’s age range in this combined preschool class is from three to five years old. Like ELC 1, these classes offer a safe and nurturing environment that promotes the physical, social, emotional, aesthetic, intellectual, and language development of each child, while being sensitive to the needs and preferences of families. Although, children altogether is grouped in one classroom, there is definitely a distinction from one to the other.
In the ELC 2 class, the children expand the scope of their learning in a cheerful, bright and warm environment. Our learning program for children aged three to four emphasizes on basic numeracy and literacy; communication and socialization, physical and emotional development. Children work and play together in small groups in the various learning centers throughout the classroom. These might include block play, house-keeping, dramatic play, reading, quiet play and art. Most of the activities of the preschoolers are play-based and child-centered. They start to follow the PYP program and attend special subjects taught by the specialist teachers in school such as Music, Library, Indonesian Language, PE and Dance Class. All of these are also integrated in our daily program. For the ELC 2 children the school day starts at 7.45 and ends at 11.50 a.m. ELC 2 is the mid-level preschool class at ISB.
ELC 3 is the last preschool program of ISB. A full school day of fun, enjoyment and learning awaits the children in the ELC 3 class as they continue to work with a variety of challenging and engaging materials in a cheerful, bright, and warm environment. Group lessons, stories, songs and other enjoyable activities are introduced in circle time twice daily. The school day starts daily at 7.45 a.m and they stay until 1.45 p.m to perform teacher-directed activities in the afternoon for early numeracy and early literacy through play activities. These preschool children follow the PYP curriculum. Most activities of these preschool children are play-based and child-centered. They follow a regular timetable and also attend special subjects taught by the specialist teachers in school such as Music, Library, Indonesian Language, PE and Dance. All of these educational aspects are also integrated in our daily program.
The ELC team works hard to ensure that each child is given enough care and attention in all their needs. Opportunities to develop the student profile and attitude in an IB school are given emphasis at this early stage.
