Curriculum Coordinator Message

Welcome to the curriculum section of the ISB website! We hope you find the information contained within it clear and useful.

ISB is a fully authorised International Baccalaureatte (IB) World School. We are proud to have achieved this credential, as IB is a recognised leader in the field of international education. In 2002, we were the first school within Indonesia to gain this accreditation. Since then, ISB has successfully passed an evaluation visit from the IB in 2006 and we are now preparing for a second evaluation visit in 2010.

As an IB World School, our curriculum is drawn from subject scope and sequence documents produced by the International Baccalaureatte Organisation. More information about the IB Primary Years Program can be found under the heading ‘PYP’ and more specific information about the content being taught within each subject area can be found under the subject headings.

The PYP curriculum is delivered primarily through Units of Inquiry. Any curriculum content that is not able to be integrated into the Units of Inquiry is taught separately, as stand-alone content, but still as contextualised learning activities.

At ISB, we understand how important it is for you to be fully informed about what your child is learning in the classroom and we endeavour to make sure we communicate this information in a number of ways – through this website, by holding a ‘Back to School Night’ at the start of the year, in our term overviews and weekly newsletters, during Parent-Teacher-Student conferences and during our weekly Friday morning ‘Sharing Time’ assemblies.

Being a small, friendly, community school also means that there are many opportunities for you to meet and talk with us about our curriculum, both formally and informally. We hope you will always feel comfortable to approach us!
