academic challenge

“In the 21st century, scientific and technological innovations have become increasingly important as we face the benefits and challenges of both globalization and a knowledge-based economy. To succeed in this new information-based and highly technological society, students need to develop their capabilities in these areas to levels much beyond what was considered acceptable in the past.” (National Science Foundation)

This year, in association with the JASIS (Java Association of Small International Schools) group, the students from ISB will be participating in an academic challenge like no other currently being held within this group of schools. A series of challenges will test each group – to problem solve, work together, strategize and formulate plans. Race, strength their imaginations and contemplate varying options. Widely known as STEM Challenges, representing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, these challenges are becoming more widely recognised to help young students grow and learn in this quickly changing and diverse world. As a school we are very excited to be involved in this new event, allowing us to flex our academic thinking and ingenuity. This year the event will be hosted by the North Jakarta Intercultural School on the 2nd March. Watch this space for more information.
