The aim of the Early Learning Center program at ISB is to provide a safe and stimulating environment where the child will feel happy and secure. We strive to promote the emotional, social, physical, creative and intellectual development of each child.

The early years are a time of rapid development and growth and a period where experiences encountered will have a great influence on long-term development.

In ELC , we provide opportunities for the child to play and to explore the world. Interests and imagination are stimulated. Positive attitudes to self and to others are nurtured and confidence and self-esteem will be developed. Each child will be given opportunities to express ideas and feelings in a number of ways. While the aim of the program is to offer the child a wide-variety of learning activities in the school setting, we cannot forget the importance and value of the learning situations experienced at home and in the community.

We offer our ELC services to children from 24 months to 5 years and 11 months and although we recognise the value of a mixed aged setting and the benefit this offers to all children, we also understand the different needs each age group has in terms of learning and development.

Teachers aim to support the social and emotional, language and cognitive development of the children under their care. They also provide personal care where toilet training is not yet fully achieved. Activities inside and outside of the classroom are targeted at enhancing the development of fine motor, gross motor and exploratory and investigative skills. Development of social skills and independence are encouraged though play at this age. Learning to interact positively with other children through sharing and taking turns is a key achievement goal.

The activities are play-based and student-centered and require investigative learning. At this stage, children are becoming effective communicators and are learning about behavior boundaries. Opportunities are created for children to exercise greater choice and act as role models to support the younger students in ELC. Children work and play together in the various learning centers throughout the indoor and outdoor learning spaces. Children attend music, library and bahasa Indonesia classes taught by specialist teachers within the school.
